The Fidelity Youth Empowerment Academy.....a 5 day enterprise and skills training for the youth, kicks off today in Oko Polytechnic, Anambra State. Powered by Fidelity Bank Plc.


Youths have been encouraged to explore various entrepreneurial opportunities in order to escape the manace of current economic realities in the country.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo made the remark at the opening ceremony of a five day Enterprise and Skill acquisition training being organised by Fidelity Bank Plc in partnership with Gazzelle Academy in Federal Polytexhnic Oko, Orumba North Local government area of Anambra state.

Mr. Okonkwo who was represented by the Regional Bank Head, Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi States, Mr. Leonard Ezeugwu explained that the financial institution is collaborating with Gazzelle Academy to give back to give back to the society by engaging youths in career development oppotunities hence exposing them to financial freedom in a restive economy like Nigeria.

He advised the participanting candidates to take their training seriously assuring them of the bank's readiness to sponsor the best trainees in setting up their choice businesses after the exercise.

In a Welcome Address, the Rector of Oko Polytechnic Professor Godwin Onu represented by the Deputy Rector, Administration, Sir Ejike Nwabuona enjoined the student trainees to avail themselves of the opportunity in order to acquire needed skills for economic improvement stating that the institution has introduced various new courses in line with the Federal Ministry of Education's directive to increase access to entrepreneurial development.

Delivering a keynote Address at the third Fidelity Youth Empowerment Academy (YEA 3) on the topic " Entrepreneurship as solution to unemployment crisis in Africa", the Founder, African Achievers Award, Mr Remy Chukwunyere stressed the need for youths to pursue careers with passion stating that being passionate for profession is key to achieving success in life.

Speaking during induction of the trainees, the founder of Gazzelle Academy, Mrs. Muna Onuzo encouraged the participants to endeavour to acquire skills that will make them problem solvers in the society which according to her will in turn show them the path to financial emancipation.

The Chairman Chartered Institute of Bankers, Anambra state, Chief Dr. J.B.C Onyeagba while moving a vote of thanks, counted the 200 students of the Polytechnic lucky to have been part the beneficiaries of the Fidelity Youth Empowerment Academy applauding the resource institutions for bringing the life changing opportunity to the youths.
