MASSOB, BIM reiterate determination to embark on peaceful procession to mark Biafra Inpendence from Monday the 22nd to 30th of May 2017.

MASSOB/BIM The Movement for Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafra Independence Movement (BIM) have reiterated determination to embark on a peaceful procession to observe the Independence Anniversary  the Republic of Biafra.

In a Media Committee Meeting held in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North local government area of Anambra state, the Zonal Leader of the Groups, Chief Arinze Igbani maintained that the Anniversary celebration will commence as scheduled on Monday the 22nd and round off with a football match on Tuesday the 30th of May 2017.

Speaking to Newsmen shortly after the meeting, Chief Igbani craved the indulgence of Ndi-Igbo both locally and internationally to troop out en masse and show full solidarity for the solemnization stating that the one week long exercise will record a high level of peaceful activities even as he advised Non-MASSOB members to avoid acts capable of marring the celebration.

Also speaking, the Area Administrator, Agu-udo Area, Orumba North local council of the state, Mr. Benard Achu who profoundly appreciated God for making the dreams of people of the Republic come true, commended the members of the groups for adhering to the instructions of their Supreme Leader, Chief Raph Uwazuluike.

On his part, the Zonal Director for Transport, Anambra South Senatorial zone, Chief Charles Oputa called on Transporters in Biafra land to embrace the occasion by ensuring a hiccup free movement of people while advocating the cooperation of the Nigerian security operatives as according to him the celebration will be violence free.

The Groups through the Director of Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Francis Umeagwu encouraged Traditional Rulers in the Southeast to use their positions and support the struggle for a common goal.

Other Committee members present at the meeting included the Area Administrator, Anambra south, Chief Provincial Administrator, Anambra south and Provincial Administrator, Nnewi North, Messrs. Anthony Okananwa, Sunday Umealokwutere and Benjamin Odaa respectively.

Court orders LG election in Anambra before August 15.

The quest for Local Government Autonomy today recorded a boost as an Anambra Court presided over by the Chief Judge of Peter Peter Umeadi orders the Anambra State independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to conduct election for only candidates already nominated for the election before the process was stopped before August 15, 2017. In a landmark judgment yesterday, in Court 1 of Anambra State High Court, Hon Justice Umeadi, while delivering judgment in suit No A/182/2016 brought by All Progressives Congress (APC) & 21 others vs Anambra State independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) & 28 others, held that the appointment and reappointment of Caretaker Committees in the 21 LGs of Anambra State is illegal.
