The World Igbo Congress ( WIC) an umbrella organisation for the 7 igbo-speaking states in Nigeria has restated its stance on the marginalization and inequality meted out on the igbo nation by the Nigerian government saying that Igbos are not equitably represented in the country .
The organisation observed that Igbos were being short changed and discriminated against concerning appointments into the military, judiciary as well as all other aspects of the Nigerian economy irrespective of the fact that the igbo nation was the stronghold of the Nigerian economy .
That was the crux of the matter at a summit organised by the World Igbo Congress at Ascort Resorts Enugu .
The convention provided veritable platform for igbo leaders to deliberate on the challenges facing the igbo nation in Nigeria as well as chart a new cause for Ndigbo at home and in the diaspora .
Deputy-Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Chief Ike Ekweremadu while addressing participants at the high - profile summit noted that marginalization against Igbos were clearly evident in the security architecture of the Nigerian government stressing that the ethnic clan were not fully represented in the entire arrangements .
Although Senator Ekweremadu pointed out that the issue has been taken to President Mohammadu Buhari and that the President had promised to address the anomalies relegating the igbo nation to the background, he made it clear that Ndigbo were not well - treated by the government of the federation.
The Deputy-Senate President emphasized that igbo struggle was not arms - struggle but to engage other sections of the country to see the inequality, discrimination and marginalization against the Ndi-igbo
