You are called to be Rebels: Peter Obi tells students
The former Gov. of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has advised students to remain focus in all they do and start now, even while in school, to set agenda of greatness for themselves.
Mr. Obi said this while addressing students of St. Mary's Secondary School, Ifitedunu.
Speaking further, Mr. Obi, who insisted that his own generation has lost it, encouraged students to imbibe the philosophy of those that have contributed to humanity by upturning old, retrogressive orders and went on to displace them with new, ennobling orders.
He presented a cheque of 1 million Naira to support continued infrastructural upgrade in the school, while calling on students to be rebels, saying that only by so doing would the society become a better place.
"Rebellion in the sense I am addressing you today is not about going into the bush to fight established order, rebellion as I use it is that positive human act by which one is determined to fight the ills in the society by personal example. It is the urge in us not to join the bands of the corrupt, it is the urge to be genuinely patriotic, it is the urge to offer selfless service for the good of the society", his words.
In his own speech, the Manager of the School, Rev. Fr. Jude Onebune, said that he lacked words to explain the impact of the actions of the ex-governor on humanity, Describing him as a man of honour.
he said the fest Anambra State achieved on education was principally his work.
" i was the Manager of Holy Child Secondary School, Isuofia before I was posted to St. Mary's. I can tell you with surety that under him we saw the practical demonstration of what it means for a man that govern state to be completely devoted to education and other sectors.
