APC Anambra Primary: Nwoye clinches baton for November Race.


Tony Nwoye Beats Uba, Moghalu, Nwibe And Others To Secure APC Anambra Guber Ticket

After a keenly contested gubernatorial primaries which lasted two days, Tony Okechukwu Nwoye, a medical doctor and member of the Federal House of Representatives representing the people of Anambra East/West constituency of Anambra state has secured the nod of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to fly the party's flag in the November 18th Anambra Gubernatorial election.

He polled a total of 2146 votes to beat his closest rival, Senator Andy Uba who polled 931 votes.

Political watchers had earlier predicted a four horse race of the leading candidates including Tony Nwoye, Senator Andy Uba, Chief George Moghalu and Engineer Barth Nwibe but in the end it appeared like an easy run for Nwoye.

Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra state had earlier in the month of August secured the ticket of APGA to fly their flag in the elections while Osita Chidoka secured the UPP ticket. Godwin Ezeemo is the PPA candidate even as the other parties regarded as With APC's Guber primaries now concluded, all eyes and attention will now be on PDP who hold their own primary tomorrow, August 27th.

Professors Not TRCN Certified To Quit Teaching Profession

Raymond Ozoji, Awka reports The Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria  ( TRCN)  says that professors not registered with the council may quit teaching profession as all teachers in the country are mandated to register with the body in order to regulate the teaching profession in Nigeria  . Presenting an update on TRCN at a meeting of stakeholders in the teaching sector in Awka , state secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers  ( NUT )  Anambra state wing comrade Livinus Eta Omini stated that TRCN was the statutory body for the regulation of the teaching profession in the country . Omini explained that the duties and obligations of the teachers' registration council of Nigeria include the production of a data base for all teachers in the country which he said was the remote reason why all teachers were expected to register with the council  .
