National Broadcasting Commission moves to censor Phone-in Programs

The National Broadcasting Commission NBC, will from the 1st of October this year, issue a fine of N50,000 to any broadcast station that airs hate speech expressed by callers during any phone-in program on their station. The new policy was communicated in a statement sent to broadcast houses after a meeting at the NBC zonal office in Lagos on the 10th of August. The Zonal director of NBC, Matthew Okoduwa, said the commission was worried by all the hate speeches that are being broadcast on many stations.  Okoduwa mandated that broadcast stations to "use screeners to censor calls before they go live on programs" and that only five call-in shows per day would be allowed in all broadcast stations. He also announced that the cost of phone calls will now be borne by the station and not individuals calling in. ...this is what I mean!

I have a concern here since that baby is black. Among them all he is most handsome yet he is horribly dressed. How could we encourage such evil on the black child? No, we can't! I wonder why people would go on facebook and other social media and dance naked like it's in the market. Imagine how the black baby will feel sometime in future on setting eyes on this ill photo of his or her. It will definitely not go down well. I'm confident that the perpetrators of this madness can never use their own children for this rubbish on Facebook. Many occasions have i come across posts like this on social media and i keep asking myself "why can't we hide our blackness a little before the world?" Sure, the White will dress the baby beautifully and then make a post, but us, Africans will seize to learn our lessons rather prefer to always display our uncultured way of thinking in all of our dealings. It's very ridiculous. Acts like this should be disco

ASATU declares its position on Anambra Guber Election .....says all agitations must be made within the ambits of the Law.

The Anambra state Association of Town Unions, ASATU, says while the championing of the Igbo course is appropriate, it is imperative that all arguments and agitations are made within the ambits of the Law. In a Press Statement released by the ASATU National President, Chief Alex Onukwue, the state Town Unions Association applauded the courage of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in bringing to national glare the issues of Southeast marginalization but stressed the need to act lawfully. According to Chief Onukwue, ASATU in its view regards the call for Anambra state Election Boycott by the IPOB, as a product of misinformation. “In ASATU’s understanding, the Election of November the 18 th 2017 is an opportunity for the people of Anambra state to freely, on their own, elect their governor who will join other governors and leaders of the Southeast in fighting the Igbo course” “In this case, ASATU considers the call for boycott of the governorship election as, not o

The Ezeemos mourn with Ozubulu ...Proffer lasting security solution.

By O'star Eze True to their nature, the first notable couple to show up at the scene of the heinous bloodletting that occurred at Ozubulu in Anambra State was Mr and Mrs Ezeemo, accompanied by their daughter, Kelechi. At a point, Mrs Ezeemo had to hug her daughter who was overcome by compassion at the sight of all the dead and wounded in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital, Nnewi, NAUTH (where victims of the Ozubulu shoot-out were taken). Mrs Nneka Ezeemo, the Managing Director of Orient Daily newspaper, Awka, while speaking with newsmen, described the event as unfortunate and against Igbo values and culture. “The painful thing is that the people suffering in this exchange apparently know nothing about the cause of the event.” She used the opportunity to call on the law enforcement agencies to brace up their act to be able to contain surprises like this. Mr Godwin Ezeemo, PPA Gubernatorial Candidate in the forthcoming Anambra gubernatorial
