Willie Obiano Professional Wrestling Championship 2017, Local Organising Committee confirms change in date.


The newly inaugurated Local Organizing Committee (L.O.C), of the 2017 Willie Obiano Professional Wrestling Championship has confirmed the postponement of the Tournament earlier scheduled to commence on July 14, 2017.

Formally slated to hold at Dr. Alex Ekwueme square, Awka, the Anambra state capital on the mentioned date, the event has been shifted to 3rd of September at the same venue, this according to the committee was due to circumstances beyond it.

“The championship was formally slated to hold on 14th of July but due to the fact that this committee was just inaugurated and due to other unforeseen circumstances beyond the committee, the tournament is here by shifted to 3rd September 2017”

Chairman of the L.O.C, Mr. Tony-Uche Ezekwelu, an Engineer, in a Press Release explains that the change in date was for the good of the tournament stating that the event which will feature the best professional wrestling will attract wrestlers from Nigeria and other African countries.

Mr. Ezekwelu appeals to all sports loving and good spirited citizens and corporate bodies in the state and nation at large to give the committee the necessary support and sponsorship in its quest to making the championship a memorable one.

“We also wish to use this opportunity to reach out to Nigerian at home and in diaspora, Anambrarians, good spirited individuals, sports lovers, cooperate organizations to do their social corporate responsibility by supporting the committee in one way or the other”

He commended Governor Obiano for resting trust on them to champion the course of the great event while promising of an epoch making outing.
De Executioner

Meanwhile the Yet to be Defeated National Light Heavyweight Champion, Angus Emeadi, alias De Executioner, has vowed to retire his South African opponent and  the current African Light Heavyweight Champion, Steve Power in the forth comimg 2017 Willie Obiano Professional Wrestling Championship.

De Executioner in a media chart with journalists in Awka, disclosed that he had prepared relentlessly for the title fight which will on September the 3rd this year at Dr. Alex Ekwueme square, Awka.

“I believe that 3rd  of September will decide the order of the day but I promise Anambrarians and Nigerians at large that Steve Power coming to fight De Executioner in Nigeria, had made a regrettable decision of his life because I have prepared seriously for the fight”

However the General Secretary of the National Wrestling Board, Mr. Ralph Nwafor has assured the Local Organizing Committee for the Tournament of the support of the Board’s technical team.

Professors Not TRCN Certified To Quit Teaching Profession

Raymond Ozoji, Awka reports The Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria  ( TRCN)  says that professors not registered with the council may quit teaching profession as all teachers in the country are mandated to register with the body in order to regulate the teaching profession in Nigeria  . Presenting an update on TRCN at a meeting of stakeholders in the teaching sector in Awka , state secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers  ( NUT )  Anambra state wing comrade Livinus Eta Omini stated that TRCN was the statutory body for the regulation of the teaching profession in the country .
