North rejects Jonathan's confab report, speaks about restructuring

- The Arewa Consultative Forum said the issue of restructuring must be properly defined
- It said it is against any restructuring that will affect the country's unity
- The apex northern socio-cultural group also rejected the implementation of the confab report
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has rejected the call to implement the 2014 National Conference report describing it as undemocratic.
There has been call for the country to adopt the report of the conference held during the administration of former president, Goodluck Jonathan, but the ACF has insisted that it will not support its implementation.
According to New Telegraph, this decision was reached after the National Executive Council meeting of the apex northern group on Wednesday, July 12.
In a communique released after the meeting, the group explained to the federal government that its reason for rejecting the confab report was in the interest of the country.
It said: "The opposition of the North to the implementation of the recommendations in report of 2014 National Conference is not so much because of any legal consideration as to its legitimacy, but also because the selection of the conference delegates was skewed against the North in number considering its population.
“For emphasis, there are contentious issues like the abolishment of the present local government councils, creation of 18 additional states that were not resolved in accordance with due process of the conference proceedings.
“ACF, therefore, is of the opinion that it would be morally preposterous and anti-democratic for anybody or group to canvass for the implementation of the reports by a conference of unelected delegates. This is more so by the elected government which did not participate in the conference and its recommendations were not part of the manifesto of the ruling party.”
The group also waded into the rift between the executive and the National Assembly saying these issues are avoidable.

Charles Odunukwe, a potential Leader.

O bu onye si n’igbo enwenyi mmadu? What do we really mean when we say one is a Philanthropist?   Charles Odunukwe, Foundation and Chairman Chardon Foundation and the Vice President-General Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Worldwide. These outlined questions form the basis of the following article that puts you on the know of a less perceived strong smell of a genius who has crossed and dotted his Ts and Is respectively in the events of human development and economic empowerment. One can attest to the fact that one of the factors that propagate a person with goodwill is Benevolence. Which in terms of human relation, charitable kindness, altruistic gifts, little wonder the saying that it does not matter how long one lives on earth rather what matters is the achievement he or she had instituted before going the way of all flesh and mortals. In this context, one person that keeps striking my thoughts is the man whose name will continue to ring a resounding bell in ears within...

In a landmark judgment yesterday, in Court 1 of Anambra State High Court, Hon Justice Umeadi, while delivering judgment in suit No A/182/2016 brought by All Progressives Congress (APC) & 21 others vs Anambra State independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) & 28 others, held that the appointment and reappointment of Caretaker Committees in the 21 LGs of Anambra State is illegal. The Chief Judge also ordered that in view of his findings of fact that only APC nominated candidates for the 2015 Anambra State Local Government Elections, and all other parties failed to do so, ANSIEC should conduct give a notice of election  and conduct election ...
