National Grassroots Disability Organization, (NGDO), Bangladesh, fixes date of its Executive Committee eletion.

The Bangladesh National Grassroots Disability Organization (NGDO), says its Executive Committee (EC) election will be held on June 17, 2017, Saturday due to the expiry of the present committee.

This was disclosed by the Organization's Project Coordinator, Mr. Alal Uddin Mondal who took to his Facebook page shortly after the lifting of ban on nominations.

Mr. Mondal noted that voting to the Executive Posts will commence from 10.00 am. and ends at 5.00 pm., Bangladesh time, at Pallabi 2 No. Ward Community Center, 12/A, Harun Mollah Eidgah Matha, Dhaka-1216 (Adjacent to Pallabi Thana).

In a chart with Delight News, Mr. Mondal explained that the National Grassroots Disability Organization (NGDO) was formed as national apex body of grassroots DPOs in July 2004.

He noted that from inception, NGDO has been coordinating and implementing its activities from national to local level in collaboration with its member organizations with a view to further the human rights of persons with disabilities. 

"NGDO works in 25 districts of Bangladesh and comprises with two councils - General Council and Executive Council"

The Coordinator on encouraging interested members to opt in for the contest, maintains that election procedures of NGDO is very democratic and constitutional stating that the caretaker government will form election commission comprised of 3 members.

"The decision of the election commission will be ultimate for the operation of election".

''Before election, old committee handed over the power to the care-taker body under which election is carried out''.

He expressed hope for a fair and credible election of NGDO, which according to him would be model for other Organisations to follow and uphold the reputation of people with special needs in society.

Court orders LG election in Anambra before August 15.

The quest for Local Government Autonomy today recorded a boost as an Anambra Court presided over by the Chief Judge of Peter Peter Umeadi orders the Anambra State independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to conduct election for only candidates already nominated for the election before the process was stopped before August 15, 2017.
