The Anambra State Government has reiterated its
commitment towards providing access to quality and affordable Health Care
services to Anambrarians.
Governor Willie Obiano stated this during a one-day
public hearing on Anambra state Health Insurance Bill 2016, at the Jerome
Udorji Secretariat, Awka, the Anambra state capital.
Governor Obiano, represented by the State
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike enjoined Anambrarians to throw their
weight behind the bill, stating that the benefit cannot be over-emphasized.
Earlier, the speaker, Anambra State House of
Assembly, Mrs. Rita Maduagwu explained that the public hearing is aimed at
improving the living condition of the people.
Mrs. Maduagwu described the scheme as a Mother-bill,
saying that the state lawmakers will continue to make laws and resolutions for
the peace and progress of the state.
In an opening remark, the Chairman House Committee
on Health, Dr. Emma Okafor solicited the support of the citizens of the state
for the smooth passage of the bill.
In their separate reactions, some of the
stakeholders, the Anambra state Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade
Jerry Nnubia and the Traditional Ruler of Ifitedunu, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ilounoh
lauded the importance of the bill.
