YOUTHFUL THINKING 2019...restructuring shall be the fulcrum on which national goals will hinge says Chief Robinson Akpua
The National Democratic Liberty Party, NDLP's Presidential Candidate, Chief Barrister Robinson Akpua esq. has expressed confidence that Nigeria under his leadership will take new front if he emerges winner of next year's presidential election.
Chief Akpua while delivering acceptance speech as his party's flag bearer for the poll, noted key areas where total transformation is needed for the progress of the nation.
The Legal Practitioner stated that the NDLP having elected him has chosen competence and ideas which according to him are what the present state of Nigeria needs for a turnaround.
His words,
Our party has responded to the
clarion call for the change of leadership baton from the old guards to the new.
Throughout the length and breadth of our country, there has been an agitation
for the leadership of the young and the bold.
This agitation has snowballed into
a strong movement which resulted in the amendment of the 1999 Constitution of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria in what is known as “Not too young to run” Act.
This law has made it possible for young Nigerian men and women to contest
elective offices which were hitherto beyond their reaches.
In the new quest for a 2nd independence from internal colonizer made up of mostly corrupt and vision-less old people and their collaborators, the youths must once again come to the rescue.
I hereby invite the young, the young at heart and all men of goodwill to join hands with NDLP and my humble self in confronting the monsters of bad leadership and acute inefficiency which have over the years bedeviled our country.
If voted into office we will zero in on EDUCATION, SECURITY, INSTITUTIONS AND INFRASTRUCTURE.
In the area of education we will dedicate 30% of our annual budget to education. Universal Basic Education will be vigorously pursued. We will expand our vocational education and in collaboration with both the private sector and NGOs set up effective loan scheme for higher institution students, among others.
We will equip our security agencies with modern equipment and gadgets give the personnel and operatives living wages and make the training and retraining of the operatives a priority. Fundamentally, we will sanitize the recruitment process and make merit the basis for advancement and leadership. We want the best and the brightest.
Our institution including the Judiciary, the Legislature, Central Bank, National Planning Anti-Corruption Agencies, Electoral Commission and other institution will be allowed to independently fulfill their mandates within the law. Where the existing framework is not enough, efforts will be directed in supplying the deficiencies in line with the rule of law.
We will overhaul our decaying infrastructure and undertake massive infrastructural development. The interesting thing is how we intend to fund these developments. Suffice to say, at this point, that we have worked out a stick and carrot model through which we will recover funds looted over the years and deploy same to infrastructural development and industrialization in critical areas.
End.
