GLAUCOMA WEEK: NOA OFFER FREE EYE CHECK, LECTURES IN ANAMBRA …Describes Glaucoma as a silent sight thief

Following the rising concerns over sudden blindness, the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), Anambra State chapter has offered free medical eye tests and public lectures to people from Anambra describing glaucoma as a silent eye thief.             The free eye check and public lectures which held at Iyienu Mission Hospital, Ogidi, Idemili North were part of activities to mark the 2019 World Glaucoma week themed ‘Focus on Glaucoma’.             In his speech, NOA Anambra state chapter Chairman, Dr. Umeh Chigozie described glaucoma as a loss of sight because of intraocular pressure at the eye saying that it could only be detected through eye test.             “When the intraocular pressure of the eye is high, it can damage the back of the eye called the optic nerve head which does not give any information to the person who is glaucomatic”.             “Dr. Umeh said that 90 percent of
